Jacqueline Van Dyke

Jacqueline was born in Vancouver, BC and raised in Deep Cove, a part of North Vancouver. She spent countless hours exploring the bush and the back roads of the area with her siblings and neighbourhood friends, swimming competitively until late adolescence and sailing with her family.

She obtained her Bachelor of Education with qualifications in Special Education from
Simon Fraser University in 1983. Jacqueline taught in Prince Rupert, BC before moving to Ontario, where she continued teaching until her retirement in 2018.

Volunteer positions include Hike Leader for the Toronto Bruce Trail and the Ganaraska
Wilderness Clubs, Chair of the Hike Leader Training Committee, a member of the Nominating Committee, Chair of the End to End Committee of the Toronto Bruce Trail Club, and a Certified Hike Leader Course Instructor for Hike Ontario.

Jacqueline has hiked the 550 km Ganaraska Trail, the 900 km Bruce Trail several times,
the 327 km Rideau Trail, the 275 km Oak Ridges Trail as well as the Elgin, Avon and Grand Valley Trails in Ontario, and, a large portion of the East Coast and International Appalachian Trails in Newfoundland.

In addition to hiking, Jacqueline enjoys snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and
cycling.

In 2021, she received a recognition award from the Toronto Bruce Trail Club for her
contribution to the hiking community.
